Disney released the first teaser trailer for their latest animated film, Raya and the Last Dragon, today. Check it out below.
Raya and the Last Dragon is directed by Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada, Paul Briggs and John Ripa, written by Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim, and will feature the voices of Kelly Marie Tran and Awkwafina as Raya and Sisu, respectively.
Raya was originally set to be released in November, but then pandemic shuffling of schedules pushed the Pixar film Soul to the November spot, and Raya to next spring. Soul is now coming out on Christmas Day on Disney+, but Raya is still coming out in the spring.
I’m looking forward to this one. Based on the creative team behind it, it looks like they’re more reverent of Asian culture than this year’s Mulan was, and it looks like a fun adventure film, much in the vein of Dreamworks’ How To Train Your Dragon franchise, or Laika Studios’ Kubo & The Two Strings.
Raya and the Last Dragon will be released to theatres (hopefully) on March 12th, 2021.
